Bubu’s back?

A judge made the decision on Thursday to make former Cyclone Bubu Palo eligible to play for the Iowa State basketball team. According to court documents that were distributed to media on Thursday morning, a Webster County judge made this decision.

A few hours after this information became public, Iowa State issued the following press release:

AMES, Iowa – A district court judge ruled today that Bubu Palo is temporarily allowed to participate as a member of the Iowa State men’s basketball team pending the outcome of further court proceedings.  A final hearing date has not been determined.

“We are disappointed to learn of the district court judge’s decision to reinstate Bubu Palo to our basketball team,” Pollard said. “We believe the university should have the sole right and responsibility to determine any student’s participation in extracurricular activities at Iowa State University.”

Iowa State head coach Fred Hoiberg met with members of the media at 2:30 and he refused to talk about the topic when asked numerous times. Hoiberg did however say that Palo would not be on Iowa State’s trip to Texas this weekend.
