Cyclones stay steady in AP and USA Today polls

The Iowa State men’s basketball stayed steady at No. 7 in the first regular season Associated Press Top 25 released Monday afternoon. They also stayed at seven in the USA Today Coaches Poll

The North Carolina Tar Heels still hold the number one spot in the AP followed by Kentucky, Maryland, Kansas, Duke and Virginia to round out the top six. The Jayhawks also picked up five first-place votes. 

Three of the top five teams will play tomorrow night in the Champion’s Classic with Kentucky taking on Duke and Kansas playing No. 13 Michigan State on ESPN. 

Oklahoma, No. 8, and Baylor, No. 20, were the only other Big 12 schools in the AP poll. West Virginia was third in the other receiving votes category, and Texas got six votes of their own. 

Iowa State opponents Cincinnati and Iowa also received votes.
