Nick Noskowiak is heating up

You had to know that Iowa State wouldn’t be the only high-major program recruiting Nick Noskowiak for very long. At a weekend AAU tournament in Dallas, Marquette jumped into the mix.

“I grew up watching Marquette a lot,” Noskowiak told Cyclone Fanatic. “They are only an hour away so I’ve been to a lot of Marquette games so that offer is a pretty big deal to me. It’s pretty exciting.”

Things certainly appear to be heating up within Noskowiak’s recruitment as Iowa State head coach Fred Hoiberg and associate head coach T.J. Otzelberger are scheduled to pay him a visit on Tuesday morning.

“Coach Hoiberg and Coach Otz are coming to Sun Prairie tomorrow to watch me work out,” said Noskowiak.

Otzelberger, who has Wisconsin roots, is serving as Iowa State’s primary recruiter of Noskowiak. Otzelberger also served as the primary recruited for 2013 Cyclone signee Matt Thomas, a Wisconsin native and also friend of Noskowiak’s.

Joining Iowa State and Marquette as schools that have offered are Creighton, Northern Iowa, Wisconsin-Green Bay and Wisconsin-Milwaukee.

Noskowiak said the fact that Iowa State offered him first is a big plus for the Cyclones.

“They knew that I only had mid-major offers and they thought that I was capable of playing at that level," said Noskowiak. "They were the first school to see that in me so it means a lot to me.”

Noskowiak said that he will take an unofficial visit to Marquette next Tuesday. Before then, his Wisconsin Playground Warriors AAU team will travel to the Adidas Hoops Challenge in Wadsworth, Ohio this weekend.
