Prep school wing high on ISU after visit

Marvin Clark is a big fan of Iowa State. The 6-foot-6 wing out of Sunrise Christian Academy in Wichita, Kan., officially visited Iowa State on Saturday and took in an 81-75 Cyclone victory over Oklahoma.

The former Oregon commitment came away impressed with everything from Hilton Coliseum’s atmosphere to Fred Hoiberg’s coaching.

“This style of play fits me perfectly,” Clark said during a halftime interview. “I am a lefty. I can shoot it. Coach Hoiberg lets his guys go. I really like that. He knows what it takes to get to the next level and that’s something that stands out to me.”

Clark has already taken official visits to Kansas State and Seton Hall. He said that he is also considering Mississippi, Michigan State and Indiana.

“I think I am going to make my decision in late spring,” Clark said.

Clark broke his foot during AAU play last summer but is fully recovered from the injury.

“I know I am a lot stronger down there than I was before I broke my foot,” Clark said.

Iowa State assistant coach Matt Abdelmassih is leading Clark’s recruitment for Iowa State.
