RECRUITING: Jakolby Long commits to Iowa State

The Prohm staff’s recruiting momentum continues.

Jakolby Long, a 6-foot-4, 200-pound combo out of Mustang, Okla. visited Iowa State last weekend and committed to the Cyclones on Friday morning.

“I’m very excited," Long told Cyclone Fanatic. "This is really relief in that I’m done in recruitment right now and I know my place."

Long is another T.J. Otzelberger recruit.

According to Long’s profile at Rivals.com, he held other offers from: Oklahoma State, Kansas State, Wichita State, Texas Tech, Tulsa, SMU, South Carolina, DePaul, Georgia, Houston, Mississippi, Missouri and others.

"Iowa State really showed me the most love on my recruitment," Long said.

Last weekend, Long told our Chris Williams that he was choosing between Iowa State, Texas, Georgia and Utah.

Long added Friday that the Cyclones simply felt like the right program to join.

"The biggest thing is probably the fan support and the players and how the coach reacted — and his relationship with the players," Long said. "That’s what I really loved about Iowa State."

With this commitment, Iowa State now only has two spots remaining in its 2016 recruiting class.

Long’s thrilled to be among that group, but first thing’s first for the Mustang High School senior.

"The number one goal for the Mustangs is to win the (state) championship," he said.
