The latest on replacing Doc Sadler

Less than 24 hours after the news that Doc Sadler had become the new head coach at Southern Mississippi broke, a clear front-runner has emerged to be his replacement on Iowa State’s bench next season.

Multiple sources have told CycloneFanatic.com that Charlie Henry, who spent last season as Iowa State’s Director of Player Development, is the overwhelming front-runner to land the job.

Henry arrived at Iowa State during the 2012-13 season as a graduate assistant. He was quickly promoted to his current player development role last April. Before arriving in Ames, Henry was a video intern with the Indiana Pacers (2011-12) and also has a background as an assistant coach in the Michigan high school ranks.

According to a source, the deal is not done yet but all signs are pointing at Henry being the guy, barring an unforeseen change occurring.

Should this happen, we’re told to expect current graduate assistant Nate Loenser to be promoted to Henry’s development role.
