Hold your breath and take a seat before you read this…

Within the span of about an hour and a half on Saturday evening, the Iowa State men’s and women’s basketball seasons came to an end. That’s right. Hoops season, in Ames at least, is over.

Even so, both programs had fantastic years and considering a handful of circumstances, both probably overachieved. I’ll write more about that in the coming weeks here at CF.

Here is a compilation of links from Saturday night and cheer up. Spring football starts on Tuesday.

WHITE’S FUTURE: What’s next for Royce White? That’s what you’re all wondering. According to Randy Peterson from the Des Moines Register, that’s all up for discussion and White will lean on Fred Hoiberg greatly while making the decision.

BEST OF THE SEASON: That was the best game that Kentucky has played all season long. Just ask John Calipari, writes Peterson.

HANSEN: Des Moines Register columnist Marc Hansen’s take on last night’s 87-71 loss to Kentucky.

FORDE: Royce White is the most unique player in college basketball. For more on this, CLICK HERE for Pat Forde’s column on last night’s game.

GOODMAN: CBSSports.com’s college basketball guru Jeff Goodman writes that Kentucky’s point guard Marcus Teague hit his stride at the perfect time vs. the Clones.

STAPLES: More on Kentucky playing its best game of the season, from Andy Staples of SI.com.

BEATABLE? How can anybody beat Kentucky in this tournament? Brian Bennett of ESPN.com asks this question.

WILLIAMS: Here’s my take on last night’s loss…I’ll write plenty more about the 2011-12 season this week.

GREEN BAY, TOO TOUGH: UW-Green Bay is technically a mid-major. For anybody who watched the Phoenix force 30 Iowa State turnovers on Saturday night, you know that they sure don’t play like one.
