Cyclones suffer tough road loss to Baylor

WACO, Texas – The Iowa State women’s basketball team (17-8, 6-8 Big 12) fell to No. 6 Baylor (23-3, 13-1 Big 12)Wednesday night by a score of 89-51 in the Ferrell Center. The Cyclones couldn’t find an answer for the Lady Bears’ point guard Odyssey Sims. The senior led the game in scoring with 24 points on 9 of 13 shooting.
How It Happened…
Iowa State struggled offensively, scoring just 21 points in the first half and hitting on 8 of 22 shooting (1-11). The 21 points are tied for the fewest scored by the team this season (@WVU, 1st half). Ball safety also proved to be an issue in tonight’s contest, as the Cyclones gave up 14 turnovers in the first half.
The Iowa State women took better care of the ball in the second half, giving up just 5 turnovers. Hallie Christofferson and Seanna Johnson led the Cyclone scoring effort, scoring 12 and 10 points, respectively.
Cyclone Gameball Goes To…
Seanna Johnson. The freshman scored 10 points in tonight’s contest on 5-8 shooting (2-4 3pt). Johnson also notched four rebounds in the effort in 32 minutes of action.
*Iowa State has hit a three pointer in an NCAA record 606 consecutive games.
*Seanna Johnson became the 51st different player to extend the 3pt streak.
*Johnson posted her 13th game with 10 or more points on the season, scoring 10 points tonight.
*Hallie Christofferson became the fifth player in program history to score over 1,600 points and grab over 750 rebounds.
*Christofferson notched 12 points, marking the 23rd time this season the senior has scored in double figures.
*Nikki Moody picked up her 500th career assist tonight, becoming the fourth player in Cyclone history to achieve the feat.
