Ricketts has surgery on fractured wrist, to miss 8-12 weeks

Iowa State women’s basketball freshman forward Claire Ricketts will miss the next eight to 12 weeks after having surgery Tuesday for a wrist fracture she suffered during the season opening win over USC-Upstate.

Ricketts had played in all three of Iowa State’s wins to start the season and started in both exhibitions. She averaged 2.3 points and 1.3 rebounds per game while backing up fellow freshman Bryanna Fernstrom.

This leaves Iowa State even more thin inside. Only Fernstrom, junior Madison Baier and senior Fallon Ellis having gotten significant minutes inside for the Cyclones this year.

Ricketts will not travel with the team to Moraga, Calif. for the St. Mary’s Thanksgiving Tournament.
