WBB: Cyclones pick up road win at K-State

MANHATTAN, Kan. – Behind 14 3-pointers and a double-double from Nikki Moody, the Iowa State women’s basketball team (12-4, 3-2 Big 12) defeated Kansas State (11-5, 1-4 Big 12), 79-59, Saturday night at the Bramlage Coliseum.

Nikki Moody led Iowa State in scoring and assists with 20 points and 12 assists on the evening. Brynn Williamson and Kidd Blaskowsky added 17 and 15, respectively.

How It Happened…

The Cyclones would battle through a handful of turnovers and a slow start from 3-point range, opening the game 1-of-9 from behind the arc, to move ahead of the Wildcats, 20-16, after a Williamson three-point jumper at the 10:00 mark.

Emily Durr and Blaskowsky would combine for three baskets from behind the arc late in the first half to help send Iowa State into the locker room with a 37-35 lead.

Iowa State would shoot 57.7 percent in the second half and Iowa State would not surrender their lead for the duration of the second half, cruising to a 79-59 victory over Kansas State behind double-digit performances from Moody (20), Williamson (17) and Blaskowsky (15).

The Cyclones would net 14 three-point jumpers on 42.4-percent shooting from deep and 50.9-percent from the floor (27-53 FG). Led by Moody with 12, Iowa State would combine for 24 assists as a team.

Game Ball Goes To…

Nikki Moody. The Iowa State senior leader had veteran performance, recording 20 points, 12 assists and 6 rebounds on 8-of-13 shooting. The guard from Dallas, Texas tied for the team lead on the boards and led ISU in scoring en route of a big road win over conference foe Kansas State.
