WBB: Five Cyclones named Academic-All Conference

IRVING, Texas – The Iowa State women’s basketball team placed five student-athletes on the 2014 Academic All-Big 12 teams. The Cyclones placed two team members on the first team, while three earned second-team honors.

Senior forward Hallie Christofferson earned first-team honors for the third time in her career, joining just one other Big 12 student-athlete as three-time first-team members. Christofferson, a Hamlin, Iowa native, is a graphic design major. She is averaging a career-best and team-leading 18.1 points and 7.4 rebounds. 

Elly Arganbright, a senior English and global resource systems major, took home first-team honors for the second time in her career. Arganbright has played in 12 contests for the Cyclones this season.

Tenisha MatlockAshley Hagedorn and Brynn Williamson were named to the Big 12 second-team. 

Matlock, an apparel and merchandising and design major, is a first-time honoree with the women’s basketball team and is a three-time honoree during her time with the ISU volleyball team.  The North Platte, Neb. native has seen action in 12 games with the women’s basketball team.

Hagedorn, an Irwin, Iowa native, was also a second-team honoree as a marketing major. Hagedorn has seen action in 15 games this season.

Williamson, a child, adult and family studies major from Kansas City, Mo., earned second-team honors for the second time in her career. Williamson is one of the Cyclones’ top defenders on the court. She has started 24 games for the Cyclones this season and is averaging 8.9 points per contest and 4.3 rebounds.

The Cyclones will be back in action Saturday night at home against Texas at 7 p.m.
