AMES — Iowa State announced Thursday that Vanderbilt-transfer Heather Bowe is the newest member of the women’s basketball team. Bowe will compete for the Cyclones during the 2016-17 season, while she pursues her master’s degree.

The 6-foot senior from Eau Claire, Wisc. started 21 of the 23 games she appeared in last season. She averaged 7.0 points and 3.6 rebounds while shooting 52.2 percent from the floor.

As a sophomore in 2013-114, she averaged 5.1 points and 4.3 rebounds and was named to the SEC All-Freshman team while averaging 6.2 points and 4.3 rebounds in 2012-13.

Bowe was named a Parade All-American in 2012 and was named the AP Wisconsin Player of the Year.

"I am thankful for the opportunity to play at Iowa State and pursue my master’s degree," Bowe said in a statement. "I am honored to get the chance to play for head coach Bill Fennelly and his great support staff of Jodi, Billy and Latoja. I am looking forward to playing in front of the wonderful fans in Hilton Coliseum and the rich tradition of Iowa State women’s basketball."
