WBB Recruiting: Robinson names a favorite

Taylor Robinson has more options than a kid at Baskin Robbins.

The uber-talented forward lists offers from all over the country, but one school stands out above the rest.

Here’s a hint: The team wears Cardinal and Gold.

“If I really have to put a top-5 in order, I’m pretty sure Iowa State would be number one,” Robinson said this past week.

Robinson visited Ames during Fanfest in late August and came away impressed with what the Cyclones have to offer. The Cyclones’ faithful certainly made an impression.

“I knew Iowa State was in a college town, but I didn’t know that people were that into them,” Robinson said. “Everyone who walked past was wearing Iowa State clothing.”

Cyclones fans are hoping she joins the crowd. The 6-foot-3 forward is ranked the No. 131 player in the country by All Star Girls Report. Several other recruiting services rank her highly as well, including Dan Olson at No. 91.

That’s why Robinson is drawing interest from all over the country. Besides Iowa State, she is planning on taking official or unofficial visits to Memphis, Kansas State, Auburn, Houston and Temple.

The Cyclones are off to a good start with Robinson. The St. Louis native said she can’t wait to make it back to Ames for a football game this fall.

“I had a ton of fun,” Robinson said. “I liked meeting the fans and coaches. The fans at Iowa State were amazing.”

If Iowa State lands Robinson, it would fill a big need in the class of 2013 recruiting class. Chelsea Poppens, Amanda Zimmerman and Anna Prins all graduate after this season.
