Moody is first-team all-Big12

AMES — Three Iowa State women’s basketball players were honored when the Big 12 released their regular season awards on Wednesday.

Senior point guard Nikki Moody was selected as unanimous first-team all-Big 12, while senior Brynn Williamson and sophomore Seanna Johnson were both selected as honorable mention all-Big 12.

Moody averaged 14.4 points and 6.9 assists during her senior campaign. She also broke Iowa State’s all-time record for career assists, passing Lyndsey (Medders) Fennelly in the Cyclones’ win over No. 3 Baylor. This was Moody’s first time on the first-team, while she made the second-team in 2013-2014.

Williamson earned honorable mention for the first time in her career after averaging 11.4 points and grabbing 6.2 rebounds per game. She also hit a team-high 72 3-pointers during the regular season.

Johnson achieved her second straight Big 12 honor after she was named to the all-freshman team last season. She led the Big 12 with 9.2 rebounds per game and also averaged 11.5 points per game.

The Cyclones will be back in action Saturday when they take on Oklahoma State at 11 a.m. in the 4-seed vs. 5-seed game of the Big 12 Tournament.
