Hoops Recruiting Notebook: Three to watch

By Chris Williams, CycloneFanatic.com Publisher

As far as we know, Iowa State is done with its basketball recruiting class of 2011.

Mid-January is now approaching and it is time to start thinking about 2012.

Don’t be surprise if one or more New York City prospects join Tavon Sledge (2011 signee, also from NYC) in 2012, as this is quickly become a recruiting hotbed for Iowa State. Here are three Big Apple hoopsters to keep an eye on throughout  the winter months.

1 – Nkereuwem Okoro, 6-foot-4 guard out of St. Raymond’s Prep

Okoro is a high-energy two-guard who Iowa State has extended an offer to. According to Okoro’s Rivals.com profile, St. Johns and Rutgers are also in the mix.

2 – Kamari Murphy, 6-foot-7 forward out of Abraham Lincoln in Brooklyn

Murphy has nearly a dozen offers, mostly from high-major schools, including Iowa State.

3 – Daniel Dingle, 6-foot-6 forward out of St. Raymond’s Prep

Dingle, Okoro’s teammate at St. Raymond’s Prep, has an impressive offer sheet that features Iowa State.

IN-STATE UPDATE

– Linn-Mar point guard Marcus Paige is currently averaging 15.3 points per game. Paige recently added offers from North Carolina and UCLA to his already large list that includes Iowa State.

– Former Cyclone commit Wesley Staten is averaging 20.3 points per game for Sioux City Bishop Heelan. Staten’s Rivals profile lists Iowa State as his only offer but he’ll have plenty of options when this summer rolls around.
