Negus Webster-Chan will take the first official visit of his recruiting process this weekend.

That will go down in Ames.

“I really want to see the campus. I’ve never been there before,” said the 6-foot-6, 175-pound Webster-Chan. “I want to see what the state of Iowa is like. I really just want to see the coaches, talk to them and get to know them even more.”

Right now, Iowa State is at the top of Webster-Chan’s list with Missouri and USC. Webster-Chan plans on taking all five officials before making a decision.

While he hasn’t scheduled another at this point in time, it is safe to assume that Missouri and USC will each receive an official. Webster-Chan, a 2012 prospect, also mentioned Clemson, Texas, Providence and Marquette as schools that he is considering.

“I’m going to take all of my visits. From there, whatever happens, happens,” said Webster-Chan. “It could be November. It could be in the spring.”

“I need to feel comfortable talking with the coaches about whatever I want. I want to be able to ask them questions and stuff. My mom, my uncle and my family need to like the place too.”

Though he prefers to be a shooting guard, Webster-Chan is a true combo.

“I can play point guard, shooting guard or small forward. I think that is what he (Fred Hoiberg) likes about me the most,” said Webster-Chan.

T.J. Otzelberger is leading up Iowa State’s recruiting efforts with Webster-Chan.
