AMES, Iowa – Iowa State senior defensive end Cory Morrissey was named to the 2014 Lott IMPACT Trophy Watch List, announced today by the Pacific Club IMPACT Foundation.

The Lott IMPACT Trophy was named in honor of Ronnie Lott, a College Football Hall of Fame and Pro Football Hall of Fame inductee. The award is given annually to the college football defensive player who has the biggest IMPACT on his team both on and off the field. IMPACT is an acronym for Integrity, Maturity, Performance, Academics, Community and Tenacity.

A senior from Ames, Iowa, Morrissey won the Arthur Floyd Scott Award last year as ISU’s top defensive lineman. He led all ISU down linemen in tackles in 2013 (52) while starting 11 games.

Morrissey, who was a 2013 honorable mention All-Big 12 pick, tallied 6.5 tackles for loss and tied for second in the Big 12 with three fumble recoveries.

Morrissey will be counted on as one of ISU’s leaders in 2014. He recently changed his jersey to No. 58 in honor of his former defensive ends coach Curtis Bray, who passed away in January. Bray wore No. 58 in his standout career at Pittsburgh.

An Eagle Scout in high school, Morrissey is extremely active in community outreach programs as a student-athlete at Iowa State.

The winner will be announced at the annual Lott IMPACT Trophy Banquet, Dec. 14 at The Pacific Club in Newport Beach, California.
