Demond Tucker rightly bills himself on his Twitter profile as “the # 2 nose guard in the nation.” He also believes he’s “NFL BOUND.”
First things first, though.
Tucker, a a 6-1, 285-pounder from Copiah-Lincoln (Miss.) Community College, tweeted this afternoon he has committed to join Paul Rhoads’ Iowa State Cyclones.
He’s close friends with redshirting ISU linebacker Jordan Harris, a former teammate at Copiah-Lincoln.
“I can see myself really making some big plays at Iowa State,” Tucker told Cyclone Fanatic late last month.
He’s not the only one. Tucker had narrowed down his top two choices to ISU and Kansas State, but held several offers from schools such as Texas A&M, West Virginia and Louisville. He notched 9.5 sacks this season and was the 2013 NJCAA defensive player of the year.
Tucker did not immediately respond to a text and phone message.
He did say last month that two words expressed to him by ISU stood out the most: “Instant starter.”
“I’m going to be an impact player,” Tucker said.
