A highly sought after junior college cornerback will be checking out Iowa State later this month. Butler County Community College (Kan.) defensive back Octavious Morgan recently told CF that he will take a visit to Ames on June 18.
The 6-foot, 195-pound prospect has gotten interest from a number of high level schools including Arkansas, Baylor, Kansas State and West Virginia.
All of that interest hasn’t kept Iowa State from standing out to the Greenwood, S.C., native.
"The love that the coaching staff shows," Morgan said when asked what sticks out about the Cyclones. "They’re always hitting me up and checking up on me daily."
Morgan’s six interceptions during his freshman season led the team while he was also sixth on the team with 56 tackles, 40 of them solo. He’ll graduate in December after his sophomore season then will enroll at his new school for the spring semester.
There are a couple factors that will come into play when decides where he’ll play his last two seasons of college ball.
"A program that understand their players, and pushes them hard to be the best they can be," Morgan said. "On and off the field. Not looking for much, blessed to even have the opportunity to play at the university."
He mentioned Kansas State, Baylor and Arkansas as the other leaders for his commitment but doesn’t have any more visits set up at this time.
