Iowa State picked up its second in-state football commitment on Thursday.

Kane Seeley, a 6-foot-2, 215-pound middle linebacker out of Perry called recruiting coordinator Bob Elliott and told him the news.

"I wanted to get it out of the way. I didn’t want to have to worry about it or anything," Seeley told CycloneFanatic.com on Friday morning. "I knew that if any other school offered me, I’d probably end up going to Iowa State anyway. They were my top choice and I just wanted to get it done now."

Seeley recorded 78 tackles during his junior season. He’ll attend a team camp at Central College with his Perry High School teammates on Wednesday of next week.

Seeley, one of the top prep wrestlers in the state, went 47-0 and won a state championship at 215-pound as a junior. He likely could have wrestled at the next level.

"I just like football more," Seeley said. "There’s a team atmosphere. That’s more fun. I’m more of a football player."

Seeley is Iowa State’s sixth known verbal commitment in its 2012 recruiting class.
