It’s official: men’s basketball top 25 projections for the 2015-16 season are no longer considered "way too early."
Not even "too early."
ESPN‘s Eamonn Brennan declared it so early today, when he released his August top 25.
The Cyclones were placed in the No. 7 spot (two spots behind Kansas).
Brennan tabbed North Carolina second, Kentucky third and Virginia fourth. Defending national champion Duke is sixth, Oklahoma sits eighth, Wichita State is ninth and Villanova rounds out the top five.
ISU did rank higher in the "way too early" days. Brennan pegged them at No. 4 in April.
That, of course, was before Coach Fred Hoiberg left for the Chicago Bulls, but the Cyclones can remain assured that under Steve Prohm, they still are a trendy (and very reasonable) top-10 projection.
It stands to reason, too, considering Georges Niang, Monté Morris, Jameel McKay and the rest of a stellar core of seven will lead ISU onto the floor this season.
