Rebuilding the defensive line is one of the top priorities for the Iowa State coaching staff while they put together their 2017 recruiting class, and that process took a step forward on Wednesday.
Three-star, Cedar Hill, Texas, defensive end Deven Lamp tweeted his commitment to Iowa State after visiting last weekend. The 6-foot-3-inch, 220 pound, prospect brings a great deal of athleticism to the position and also holds offers from Navy, Nevada, Cornell and Air Force.
Lamp is rated as the No. 73 weakside defensive end in the country by 247. He’s the sixteenth commit in Iowa State’s 2017 recruiting class, and joins Kansas defensive end Angel Dominguez as the second one along the defensive line.
He’s the Cyclones’ first commit in the class from the state of Texas.
Stay tuned to Cyclone Fanatic for more on Lamp’s commitment.
