——————————————————————————————————————————————

2:37 p.m. – Here’s an interesting piece on JUCO recruiting in the Big 12. Since 2006, Iowa State has taken the second most JUCO commitments in the league behind of course, Kansas State. CLICK HERE to read the article.

2:33 p.m. – Mesquite, Texas defensive back Jared Brackens’ letter has finally arrived at Iowa State.

2:10 p.m. – It is official. Louvan Green did end up signing with UNLV. CLICK HERE for details.

1:56 p.m. – At the Jacobson Building. I have a feeling that this day is pretty much over leading up to the presser.

1:22 p.m. – Heading over to the Jacobson Building for the 3 p.m. press conference.

1:03 p.m. – Potential bad news…I’ve now heard from two sources that Louvan Green will or has already signed with UNLV.

12:30 p.m. – Still waiting on letters from the two Dallas prospects Kenneth Lynn and Jared Brackens. As the Cyclone football office tweeted earlier, this is likely due to some bad weather that is currently owning the United States of America. No need to panic here.

As far as I know, JUCO DT Louvan Green has not made a decision yet. Green is considering Iowa State, UNLV and Washington State. Green’s commitment would be a delicious cherry on top of this class, should he sign with Iowa State today. Stay tuned. I’ll be heading over to the Jacobson Building shortly for a 3 p.m. press conference.

11:58 a.m. – Great stuff here by the Ames Tribune’s Bobby La Gesse. DeVondrick Nealy’s high school coach compares him to Chris Johnson of the Tennessee Titans. CLICK HERE to read the article.

11:54 a.m. – Good news. Mt. San Antonio C.C. tight end Ernst Brun’s letter of intent has arrived at Iowa State. That one was starting to make me sweat.

11:15 a.m. – And now we wait….CLICK HERE to read a links compilation from ESPN.com regarding Big 12 football recruiting.

10:50 a.m. – Still holding out hope that JUCO DT Louvan Green will shoot Iowa State a fax. Green is a California prospect so if he commits, the fax would likely be one of the final ones to come through.

10:26 a.m. – Here’s a recent tweet from @CycloneFB. "It appears all that kids in the Dallas metro area are going to have trouble faxing their NLI’s today bc of the weather there/closing school." – Stupid weather.

10:24 a.m. – By my calculations, Iowa State is still waiting on LOI’s from Jared Brackens (DB), Kenneth Lynn (DB) and Ernst Brun (JUCO TE).

10:14 a.m. – Austin (Reagan) Texas ATH Ja’Quarius Daniels has submitted his LOI. Daniels was a high school quarterback and will likely get a shot to play the same position at Iowa State. Daniels has great size at 6-foot-4, 210-pounds.

10:08 a.m. – Here’s a good read on Iowa State’s 2011 recruiting class by Kelly Beaton of the Waterloo Courier. I love the first quote from running back Rob Standard. CLICK HERE to check it out.

9:54 a.m. – Coppell, Texas offensive lineman Oni Omoile has signed with Iowa State. That’s Iowa State’s fourth offensive lineman signee today.

9:48 a.m. – Devin Lemke out of Alden, Iowa has sent over his LOI. Lemke is listed by Rivals.com as a defensive end but he’ll actually start off his career as a Cyclone at tight end. In case you didn’t know, Lemke is one of the top prep wrestlers in the state of Iowa at 215 pounds. He’s currently ranked as the state’s third best wrestler at 215 in class 2A.

9:46 a.m. – I am anxiously waiting on Texas defensive back Kenneth Lynn’s LOI. He’s the guy who committed to Iowa State. He then decommitted and went to Kansas. Now he’s back with the Cyclones. I won’t believe this one until the fax is in Ames.

9:34 a.m. – Kaleb Johnson, a Fla. offensive lineman who Iowa State was in on, signed with Rutgers earlier today. I’m not surprised at all that he didn’t choose Iowa State. I considered this one as a long shot all along. But Rutgers over Miami? I don’t get it.

9:22 a.m. – Josh Grady just posted on his twitter feed that he is "taking his talents to Vandy." Thanks Lebron.

9:20 a.m. – Abraham Lincoln (Council Bluffs) offensive lineman Jamison Lalk has submitted his LOI to Iowa State.

9:18 a.m. – Keep in mind that Iowa State had two JUCO prospects redshirt the 2010 season. So basically, I look at defensive end Rony Nelson and offensive guard Jon Caspers as bonus members of the 2011 class.

9:14 a.m. – San Jacinto, Calif. defensive end David Irving has sent in his LOI. If you listened to yesterday’s podcast, you heard Austen Arnaud get flat out giddy about this kid. Irving’s 6-foot-7 frame excites me. Plus, it comes at a position that Iowa State desperately needs some help at. This could be the best defensive player in this recruiting class.

9:06 a.m. – Josh Grady picks Vanderbilt! The Cyclones missed on this one.

9:03 a.m. – The second second Sam Richardson’s letter is in. This one is a defensive back out of League City (Clear Springs), Texas.

8:57 a.m. – Omaha Central wide receiver Teddy Lampkin has signed with Iowa State. I interviewed Lampkin a few months ago. He told me that the Iowa State coaching staff has major plans for him in the kick return game.

8:38 a.m. – Here is another Des Moines Register piece that features JUCO quarterback Steele Jantz. Did you know that Jantz’s fathers name is Foxx? He has an uncle named Wolfe. Jantz’s two brothers are named Stig and Truk. You just can’t make this stuff up. CLICK HERE to read more. I personally believe that Steele got the best name of all the Jantz’s, although Truk does give him a run for his money.

8:34 – One more Brock Dagel tidbit. In that Randy Peterson piece that I linked below, Dagel says that Iowa State plans on him being a left tackle down the road. I love the offensive line depth that Paul Rhoads has developed with the 2010 and 2011 recruiting classes.

8:26 a.m. – Cherokee, Iowa offensive lineman Brock Dagel’s letter is in. Randy Peterson from the Des Moines Register recently wrote a feature about Dagel. Check it out by CLICKING HERE.

8:05 a.m. – Here is a little bit of news that you might not know about yet. Remember former Cyclone women’s basketball star Lyndsey Medders? She’s now Lyndsey Fennelly and her brother Brett, a California wide receiver will attend Iowa State as a preferred walk-on.

8:02 a.m. – My boss just asked me who the best player was in this class. Take it from me, a 5-foot-10, 170-pound "journalist" that it is DeVondrick Nealy. You don’t have those kind of offers if you aren’t just a little bit ridiculous you know?

7:59 a.m. – A couple of new letters are in. Some good ones. Welcome Winter Park, Fla. quarterback Sam Richardson to the family along with Houston wide Tad Ecby.

7:50 a.m. – Here’s a tweet from 247sports.com’ Josh Newberg on Florida QB/ATH Joshua Grady. My Josh Grady prediction is #IowaState. #fortherecord.

7:47 a.m. – In case you missed it yesterday, former Cyclone QB Austen Arnaud and I recorded a special National Signing Day podcast. Hear our thoughts on the 2011 recruiting class by CLICKING HERE.

7:33 a.m. – Mount Pleasant, Iowa defensive back Darian Cotton’s LOI is in.

7:27 a.m. – Florida running back/athlete DeVondrick Nealy’s letter is in! I think that he is a guy who can play as a true freshman. Line him up in the slot. Give him some carries. Nealy is another playmaker that this program needs.

7:21 a.m. – Not only is today National Signing Day, it is Groundhog Day and my wife’s birthday. Stinks to be her. I’ll likely have some dinner with her tonight at around midnight.

7:18 a.m. – As of now, Iowa State has received National Letters of Intent from the following prospects: Linebacker Donald Smith, wide receiver Quenton Bundrage and running back Rob Standard. CLICK HERE to view their profiles on www.Cyclones.com.

7:13 a.m. – Welcome to CycloneFanatic.com’s running National Signing Day blog that I will be updating all day long. What is it? Well, we’ve done it here before.
