Video: Rhoads snags commit after bowl win

CycloneSportsReport.com is reporting that Deland, Fla. running back Shontrelle Johnson has to committed to Iowa State and head coach Paul Rhoads.

You can read a complete interview with Johnson about the commitment by CLICKING HERE.

Johnson chose Iowa State over the likes of Georgia Tech, Memphis, Kentucky, Vanderbilt, South Florida and Northwestern.

Scout.com ranks Johnson as the 90th best runner in the 2010 class. He is a 3-star prospect by that publication. Rivals.com ranks Johnson as a 3-star back as well.

Chris’ Take

At 5-foot-10, 180-pounds, Johnson appears to be a guy who could blend in well with the 2010 Cyclones. He’s obviously been targeted to play for Tom Herman’s spread style of offense. To me, this appears to be a positive trade for Iowa State after learning about Jeremiah Schwartz’s departure from the team last week.

Take a look at Johnson’s highlight video up above. He appears to have good field vision and just looks like a slippery running back. He’ll be tough to see behind a division one line. Another thing that impresses me about that video is that it is all from one game, not just a bunch of wild highlights thrown together.

Johnson is the second running back to commit to Iowa State in the class of 2010. He joins Texas prospect Duran Hollis.
