I'm unsure of how I feel about this. Not just for the current situation, but for precedents for future issues. What message does this send? One that says "At
ISU basketball, we stand by you through thick and thin" or "It's ok to get in trouble as long as you are a leading scorer". I think it's probably the former, yet each person will interpret it differently.
I
do like the quotes from G-Mac and can appreciate what he's doing. My concern is what happens in January
if Mike messes up again. Here we are in the heart of the season, likely with Mike back on the court and we'd suddenly lose him.
Of course, there's always the other side, Mike turns it around - pays his dues and becomes a true team player for us. He and the team are very successful and he winds up getting a spot at the next level (NBA highly unlikely yet Europe or NBADL not out of the question).
One good, clear thing about this situation is now there is no middle ground. The gauntlet has been laid down and it's obvious no other mishaps will be tolerated.
So...many intangibles here. Greg hasn't let us down yet so I'll trust his judgment until he gives me reason not to.
