Quick over view, both cars had some type of front fender modification and are not allowed to participate in Friday practice or qualifying. They have a chance to fix what was wrong, but if they don't fix what was wrong they will not race. More penalties to come next week!
It's much better to fail a pre-race inspection than a post-race suspension. I wouldn't be surprised to see J. Gordon work his way to the front on Sunday despite no practice.
