The outdoor track ran around the field at Clyde Williams Stadium and under the stands at one end of the endzone. The story I always remember about that track was the great runner Jim Ryun (I think of
KU fame) was approaching the part to go under the stadium seats in first place in his mile run and fell down. By the time he "disappeared" under the stadium he was in last place. When the runners came back out into view, Ryun was once again in the lead.
