I think .500 in the conference would be enough. Going 7-9 might be enough, because of the strength of the Big 12, but they would be one of the last teams in or out. That win over Iowa is looking better and better!
Do not forget the Big 12 torney, if they finish 7-9 that would prob get them about a #7-#10 match up and if they win that a match up with #2 in KC. I do not know what UI rpi is but the Big 10 is weak, only 1 team rated and they are only rated #22.
Big 12 has 5 rated teams.
