I'm fairly certain that both got checks and neither are publishers on the site now. They were either bought out or sold it, but the end result is the same.
Personally - I've heard ZERO that suggests anyone got
paid to relinquish said website.
I've heard plenty to suggest that the words "don't let the door hit you..." may have been used. Not to say that the former proprietors didn't
try to get paid.
Nothing "inside". But why pay for a name when it doesn't go where you'd expect it to....
