My wife and I support various non-profit organizations with our funds, guidance, physical support and downright menial labor all the time. The majority of the non-profits who solicit our help are a lot like Mr. Deace. They have these grand ideas, but totally lack the ability to carry them out and deliver on their promises.
It has become our policy to a) assume incompetence until proven otherwise, and to b) not make the distinction between evil intent and sheer incompetence. Sometimes they look so similar that it is difficult to ascertain which they are.
The problem is, if you are so incompetent that you constantly screw people over, how are you different from a crook whose intent is to screw people? A responsible individual would relook what they are doing and change "something" to stop from hurting people.
