UPDATED:
Since most of my banter revolves around Iowa and the Big10, I have put up a few numbers to show how each conference is doing in the
MBB dance.
Big12:
record: 10-5 (67%)
average starting seed: 6.7
average loss's seed: 4.4
average win's seed: 9.6
wins playing above seed: 1
losses playing below see: 0
Big10:
record: 5-4 (56%)
average starting seed: 5.5
average loss's seed: 5.8
average win's seed: 10.4
wins playing above seed: 2
losses playing below seed: 1
head to head: advantage Big10 by 2 games, but played out correct per seeding.
Neither conference has been upset by a lower seeded team.
IMO: both are playing comparable. The S16 games will allow the cream of the 2 conferences rise to the top.
Fun numbers for me...
anywho.. .carry on.
EDIT: It appears that the Big12 is the better conference. Starting with a lower average seed and winning 2/3 of their games posting an amazing 10-5 record for this years tourney.
On average the Big12 lost games to higher seeded teams and beat higher seeded teams. the only counter a Big10 fan can have is that 2 of their conferences 5 wins came against Big12 teams (6 vs 11 seed and 3 versus 11 seed). Which isn't surprising. The Big12 has had the tougher road in this tourney and is winning and has not had one 'upset' this entire tourney.
Carry on.
