I consider CJ to be a Greg recruit - he chose to bring him into the program. He could have brought Westbrook into the program but chose not to. To me that says that he spent the time keeping CJ on board.
Here is our 2006 recruiting class -
CJ
Dodie
McIntosh
Taylor
Johnson
There is one guy left.
Here is our 2007 recruiting class:
Booz
Brackins
Brister
Garrett
Staiger
Vette
Two guys already gone, rumors of another.
So we've had two recruiting classes of scholarship guys that have already gotten here, totaling 11 kids. SIX have left early. If that isn't a cause for concern for you, that's fine. It is for me.
Nice post. Especially in light of how we are always showered with the "it takes time because McDermott is doing it the right way" talk from those with blind faith in McDermott.
Player turnover is pretty typical around the country with many programs having to deal with these same issues. However, This level of turnover does appear to be on the higher side than I have seen elsewhere.
The reality is that Cory Johnson was not a Big 12 caliber player...too slow to play outside and too small to play inside. He should go to Augustana and hook up with McIntosh. We need Big 12 caliber players if we are to be competitive in the Big 12.
