ISU (23-12, 1-1 Big 12) opens home Big 12 play this weekend with two games against Texas.
- Third-year Iowa State head coach Stacy Gemeinhardt-Cesler is taking a leave of absence as she is on bed rest expecting twins. Assistant coaches Gary Hines and Crystal Turner will serve as acting head coaches and former Cyclone Alyssa Ransom joins the squad as an interim assistant coach.
- Iowa State is just five wins shy of its total from a year ago.
- The Cyclones have went 3-1 this week, sweeping a doubleheader from Western Illinois and splitting with Northern Iowa.
- In the four midweek games, Courtney Wray led the way with five hits and two homers. Jacquelyn Beatty has also been hot lately, hitting .357 in the last four.
- The Cyclones homered three times in the first game against Western Illinois. It marked the first time in 75 games that
ISU has accomplished the feat.
- In the last five games, Kristy Olsen has hit .438 and is 4-for-4 on stolen bases. Olsen ranks third all-time at
ISU with 33 stolen bases
- Sophomore Alex Johnson needs just nine hits to reach 100 for her career. Wray, another sophomore is just 11 hits shy of the century mark.
