I lived in Ames 4 years and worked in Coralville for 4 years. It is different worlds.
EIU has a very high % of students from Illinois (Chicago). I think a lot of th big city mentality and culture finds its way to Iowa City.
ISU is pretty homogenous with Iowa kids and the out of state students are scattered from around the globe so there is not enough of any one type to affect the culture.
On I side note.......How can Jevon Pugh be at spring practice if he was not enrolled for spring semester?!?!?!? Inquiring minds want to know !!
