Iowa City-University of Iowa football coach Kirk Ferentz has announced that "player chaperons" will be hired for the Summer for all University of Iowa football players. According to Ferentz, the chaperons will be with the players at all times after 5 pm, to assure no future incident occur on the team.
"We are already very short on players," said the head coach, "we just can't afford to lose anymore to petty violations."
In addition, Ferentz announced new policies for the football team. The entire team will be required to stay in Iowa City all summer. And the new announcements include:
Monday night will be favorite board game night
Tuesday night share your favorite story night
Wednesday night's will feature an old fashion marshmellow roast.
And other activities will include checkers, roller skating and bowling.
The coach said, "we want to put the fun back into being a Hawkeye." He added, the team will ban all computer games, ipods, interactive games and cell phones. "They are the work of the devil" explained Ferentz. I heard about Miami doing the same thing. From the Miami Herald: Miami's Randy Shannon, who among five college football coaches who'll head to Kuwait and other military bases in the Middle East this summer, has instituted a chaperon program for their football team while he is gone.
"While our football players are stand up quality guys, I'm afraid what will happen if I'm not looking over their shoulders constantly," Shannon said.
Miami has been criticized with all of their off the field problems the last few years and Shannon is dedicated to cleaning up their image.
"The chaperon's will teach the players on how to act in public and how to avoid embarrassing the University. If we are going to continue to start fights on the field, the last thing we need is to start fights off the field," Shannon said. "We've done a vigorous screening process of our chaperons. All of them have sent in head shots and went through a stringent interview process. These girls will definitely keep the team occupied while gone."
Pictures have surfaced of these girls at..... To read more please login to the Miami Herald |
