Ugh. I hate this argument, particularly now because I can refute it.
I was in Houston about 4 weeks ago for Spring Break. Wore Iowa State stuff (Bird in Blender and SAA gear) all week. Nobody ever said a thing to me.
Last day in town, wore my new cardinal I-State shirt. Had about 5-10 people go "OH! Iowa State!" to me and strike up conversations.
You can't tell me that I-State is any more ambiguous than "
ISU", "U of M", "U of I" or "ASU"
