The point is, this doesn't make Iowa City's culture "corrupted". It means one person made a stupid mistake. I know, the response is going to be tying this in with all the problems that occurred with the football team, and so on and so forth. That's been beaten to death.
I know people seem to think that the culture in Iowa City is so different than that of Ames, and that Iowa athletes are the worst of worst scum in the world, but the fact of the matter is, that's ignorant.
Frankly the "worst scum in the world&" are the apologists, excuse makers, and folks that continue to employ a cheater in a capacity in which his duty(both explicit and implicit) is to use his knowledge which appears to include performance enhancing drugs. Make excuses-I don't care it remains wrong and is a perfect example of the culture of cheating and "the end justifies the means" mentality in Iowa City.
