I'm gonna go ahead and try this one more time. First of all, as stated above, Ferentz was worthy of a scholarship, Lickliter is not. Secondly, Ferentz tried to do the walk-on thing with his oldest son, who also definitely was a scholarship athlete. Because of his walk-on status, who couldn't take part in training table among other things. So Kirk gave him the scholarship instead of putting him at a disadvantage.
