Re: Keno Davis to hire Wayne Morgan...

Could be the case, or it could be a decent PR front to make themselves feel better. In either case, I remain unconvinced, especially when the story over the last 4 years was Dr. Tom was hired to "revitalize" a downtrodden Drake program:

DES MOINES - Four years after being let go as basketball coach at Iowa, Tom Davis was hired Monday to rebuild the downtrodden program at Drake. ...

He was named Drake University's 23rd head basketball coach on April 22, 2003. In four short seasons, Davis re-energized a Bulldog program that had not had a winning season since the 1985-86 season. He led Drake to a 17-15 record; including winning the Big Four Series, Drake Regency Challenge, and Sun Bowl Tournament. On March 21, 2007 Davis announced his retirement from college coaching
LINK (Rag article saying Tom recommended Keno to succeed him, and is recommending the successor to Keno. Sounds to me that Dr. Tom STILL has his sticks in the fire)

The Davis legacy has ended at Drake now that Keno Davis has become the new head men's basketball coach at Providence. Or has it? Tom Davis, who coached Drake for four seasons before handing over the reins to his son, Keno, last March, thinks associate head coach Chris Davis should become the Bulldogs' next head man. "I think Chris has done everything he can to deserve a shot at it," Tom Davis said Tuesday evening. "Keno thinks the same way. There will be some other really good candidates. But Chris has paid his dues. He's been a very critical component of the program. I hope the Davis legacy continues."
To me it really sounds like Dr. Tom not only laid the foundation for this Drake run, but is directly responsible for it. I'm not ripping on Keno - he did an outstanding job this season and deserved to be coach of the year. The truth is, though, he had that outstanding year based on the foundation his dad laid for him. Regardless, we're going to find out 3-4 years from now if Keno really is that good or if he just inherited that success from his dad.

The ongoing story of the persistent attempts to get to the other side.
