Some people use what team a person is a fan of to judge their personality. It's like a new form of racism.
I understand hating a fan base - that's cool. But I've never got this loathing people have for one another simply because of the team they cheer for. "OMG, look at that ____ fan, I bet they live in a trailer and are the scum of the earth!"
It's fun to joke about that sort of thing from time to time, but comments people make (not just on message boards) can really make a person wonder.
Being a fan of a team doesn't make you a good/bad person, which is something I think people fail to realize.
I agree. I used to not hate Hawk Fans. But I came to hate them and their team by the multiple years of abuse/arrogance/condescending attitudes. I've become a lot like the "bitter enders" at the end of the American Civil War.
I work out with a Hawk fan, who is a thoroughly decent guy, (all the way in Germany, of all places!!!) but in principle, their fan base has earned my derision for them.
