Re: Why do Iowa Fans Hate Jamie Pollard so much?

Jamie is not just trying to succeed here at Iowa State with winning teams.....he is literally trying to change the culture of Iowa State athletics. Let's face it....we have not had all that much success in the major programs and have even lagged in some of the minor ones. He is trying to change that. He is challenging the fans to support the teams with ticket purchases and with donations. He is trying to lay the groundwork for successful programs. He will make some mistakes, but he will also probably succeed in many areas. This is what I think scares Hawkeye fans.

For years, Iowa has been top dog in the state. Now, look at what has happened in the last few years. ISU is more than competitive against them each year in football, no matter what kind of year ISU is having otherwise. Basketball right now is about even, with both programs rebuilding. Wrestling looks like it will be competitive for years to come. Women's basketball is about even this year with a slight edge to ISU mainly because of the conference we are in. Then there is UNI. Look how far they have progressed in the last few years in football and basketball. And then this year......Drake even comes thru in basketball, for God's sake! I think all of this makes Iowa fans very uneasy.

Iowa fans do not really hate Jamie. They are just afraid that he might actually succeed......and that scares the hell out of them.

If you really look rationally at some of the things they say....it is laughable.........like......the whole ISU/Iowa football ticket thing. I laugh every time I read a thread about how Jamie was gouging the Iowa fans........well....I guess he did make those 4000 that got tickets pay a little extra. But so what? Any good businessman will make the most profit on his most popular product. Simple economics. Plus........Iowa shares in that gate.....so what is the problem? Then there is the old line that Iowa doesn't "get up" for the football game like ISU does because it does not mean as much to them. Yeah, right. Guess the same could be said for Western Michigan last year then too......all that was on the line there was a possible bowl for Iowa. That is such a stupid argument. Just an excuse. Plus, if the team doesn't get up for a rivalry game......shouldn't they be upset with their coach a little?

Anyway......I think they are worried. What we should do as ISU fans is don't get upset......just sit back, support our teams, give what money we can, and enjoy the ride.......wherever it takes us.
Oh, and now I see on some boards that they are blaming ISU fans for Allfraud. If you look at the threads on those boards, an awful lot of their fans use that name for him too. lol
First time I've ever heard that term on this site. Originally learned about it from HR.

Little Boy: "What are you doing Gene Chizik?"
Gene Chizik: "Pwning noobs."
