Why do Iowa fans hate Jamie Pollard? Because he polarized the rivalry even more than it all ready was.
I'm not so sure about that. A co-worker of mine left the Ames/Des Moines area for the Twin Cities in the early 80s. When he and his family moved back to Ames 5-6 years ago (pre-Pollard), he noticed a complete difference in attitudes. In his words, it went from a "friendly" rivalry to a much less "friendly" rivalry. <kidding>Blame Hayden Fry. A (losing) Rose Bowl bid created a holier than thou mentality in (some) Iowa fans. </kidding>
It's probably a good thing that my family (Iowa fans) don't visit
CF, as I might not be invited back to any more family get togethers.
