I think the group feeling is that the guy lost half his jumping ability, his quick takeoff step, etc and was not improving healthwise. That may be a major indicator that something was wrong with the foot. If the foot belongs to a valuable component of a team that needs good players, additional sleuth work may have been needed before the bruise cleared up. Maybe that is just me thinking too hard...
