A friend of mine tripped and at first was diagnosed with a broken foot, although later found out the radiologist failed to get back to him that it was a deep bone bruise. Doctors told him the pain is about the same but the bruise would take longer to heal. He was off work (independent contractor) for five weeks when he received the correct reading. At the time the doctor told him not to work on a break as he might do more damage, but with a bruise he wouldn't damage it if he worked as long as he could tolerate the pain.
Wes is lucky not to really tore up his ankle.
