What significant growth was he responsible for at ISU?
None, he killed some programs, namely baseball and fired one of the most successful basketball coaches ever at ISU and replaced him with a guy that set us back even after he left. The only thing that might have grown was his own ego.

One of my friends in college was watching a soccer game and BVD called him out of the stands and chewed him out because apparently Bruce's wife thought that she overheard them talking bad about Bruce. They weren't even close to saying anything about Bruce, he said the conversation had absolutely nothing to do with him so he told Bruce he needed to quit being so uptight just because no one likes him at ISU. Bruce apparently asked him why he thought that and he basically listed off such things as cutting baseball, firing Larry, and something to do with the student seating at the time I think.

The biggest difference between him and Jamie is that Jamie is not scared to interact with the fans. Bruce would not answer emails or be passing out McDonalds at tailgates on a cold morning. Heck he avoiding giving out recognition at games a lot because if he did he'd be booed.
