You are certainly free to negotiate your own health care costs. I know a few folks who do it. The carry catastrophic health insurance only, and pay cash for all the minor things. They ask for cash discounts and have found that many doctors are happy to give a cash discount because they can avoid dealing with insurance company red tape.
I do it with my vision care. My company's vision plan only covers the monster chains like Lens Crafters (which I hate), so I go to a local eye doctor and he gives me a discount for paying cash.
Does it have to be upfront? I tried doing it after I was charged because my insurance didn't cover the procedure but the hospital didn't budge. It's only a few hundred bucks but I don't want to pay it out of principal. Once again, sorry for hijacking this thread.
Illegals should all be deported, I just don't like the hate it seems they get from people. They are just trying to better their lives and they seem to be public enemy#1 when they are way worse criminals than them.
