A literal interpretation of Genesis is not especially friendly to our current scientific notions of what followed the big bang either. For example, it says earth was created before pretty much anything else other than the heavens, which were seemingly created at the same time. (Genesis 1.1) There was apparently day and night prior to the existence of the sun. (Genesis 1.5, 1.16) The earth was also said to have existed before the stars. (Genesis 1.14) Not to mention the whole earth being less than 6000 years old thing.

Fair enough....I should of clarified. I simply agree with the notion of there being...for lack of a better word...a Big Banger (God). The commonly held Big Bang Theory, something came from nothing and then over billions of years created order from disorder and life from non-life...I don't subcribe to.
God created us just as the Genesis account you were referencing. My bad...
