I agree totally that this sport is becoming more and more irrelevant with each passing year.
All you have to do is move out of the midwest (Iowa and Minnesota) and you will soon discover that it is not even remotely on the radar screen in most other parts of the country.
Heck, there are not even 100 DI wrestling programs...to compare, there are about 340 DI basketball programs.
However, I was surprised by ASU (a traditional power school in the sport) dropping their program. Not a good sign for the sport in general.
But I would not blame Gable and his success at Iowa for the demise of the sport.
