There are several people, on both sides, who have a number of hang-ups and insecurities about this rivalry. There are people who are pro-
ISU who start constant threads to compare the football teams or degrade the university because they are trying like to hell to prove and insist that
ISU is now the superior program. They'll do this for a number of reasons, usually going back to how they were treated as Cyclone fans by their Hawkeye neighbors. Meanwhile, there are people who are pro-Iowa who vehemently respond to such threads and try like hell to prove and insist that Iowa is still a respectable program and that
ISU is no better than "on par" with Iowa (scoreboard notwithstanding). And they do this on an
ISU site because they graduated from
ISU and claim to want to talk about
ISU, but they are quick to not only defend their beloved Hawkeyes but also to really let you know that they are Hawkeye fans.
Basically, it's best to let the people involved hash out their arguments. It's June and they need something to talk about.
