Most coachs do work hard. How often do you hear, no one works harder that coach X? I was and am a fan of Macs but there needed to be a change. Yes he would do interviews for anyone who called at anytime and he made the job of the media easy, so he gets a pass on a lot of things. Chizik is not that way he doesnt do many interviews and probaly doesnt do many interviews outside the local media.
Yes the years Mac did good and went to bowl games are great. The media looks at that and hears what he says and thinks everything was great with him as coach at
ISU. What they dont see is every game sitting in the stands, on TV or on the radio. The same play ran 20 times a game, the QB getting killed, the same reasons over and over, the same hype, a slow RB, no kicker, the way he wouldnt finish teams off, the fact that his teams got soft. I wouldnt give the McD years back for anything, he did a lot of good things. But it seemed that he lost something in those last few years in Ames.
